Privacy Notice
Bengali Association of Greater Atlanta (BAGA) · Last updated October 16, 2026
BAGA is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit. This page explains, in plain language, what information baga.net collects, why, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, please contact us.
Information you give us
When you join BAGA, buy tickets, renew a membership, sponsor an event, sign up for our mailing list or fill in a form, we collect what you enter (for example your name, email address, phone number and family details) and use it to run those services and to contact you about them. We do not sell your information.
Payments
Card payments are processed by Square. You type your card details into Square’s secure payment fields; BAGA’s website and staff never see or store your card number.
Cookies and similar storage
- A sign-in cookie keeps members (and, separately, administrators) signed in. It is used only for that.
- Your browser may keep small items of local storage, for example to remember a choice you made about recordings (below).
- We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views in aggregate. It does not use cookies.
Anonymised visit recordings
To find and fix problems (a button that does nothing, a page that errors, a checkout that fails), BAGA may turn on a tool that records how a visit unfolds on this website. It is only used when BAGA has switched it on, and it is limited as follows.
Who is recorded
- A small random sample of visits (about 1 in 20).
- Visits to our ticket, checkout, membership, renewal and sponsor pages, because those are where problems cost people the most.
- Administrator sessions in our admin area.
- A single recording lasts at most 15 minutes, and stops after 5 minutes of inactivity.
What a recording contains
- The pages shown, clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, and the technical details of errors and failed requests.
What it does not contain
- Anything you type into a form field. Typed text is hidden before it leaves your browser.
- Passwords or card details. Card details are entered in Square’s secure fields, which the recording cannot see, and the sign-in pages are never recorded.
- Readable text on member, sponsor, ticket-holder and administrator pages. On those pages all text is replaced with symbols.
- Email addresses, phone numbers and card-like numbers that appear anywhere in page text, which are replaced before recording.
Who sees it and for how long
Only a small number of BAGA administrators can open recordings, and only to look into problems with the website. Recordings are not linked to your name or account, are not shared, sold or used for advertising, and are deleted automatically after 14 days.
Opting out
- We honour the “Do Not Track” and “Global Privacy Control” settings in your browser: if they are on, you are not recorded. (The one exception is BAGA staff who deliberately switch recording on for their own browser to test it.)
- Or add
?mreplay=offto the end of any baga.net address (for example baga.net/?mreplay=off Your browser will remember the choice.
Who we share information with
Only with the service providers that help us run the site and BAGA — for example payment processing, web hosting and email delivery — and only so they can provide those services to us, or where the law requires it.
Your choices
You can ask us to correct or delete the information we hold about you, or to stop emailing you (every email has an unsubscribe link). Members can also update their details after signing in. Contact us and we will help.
Changes
If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and its date.
